About the site

German Shorthaired Pointers are one of the finest breeds ever developed. Here we hope to show what life is like with pointers and some facts about our dogs. We are selective and small-scale in our breeding, and our puppies only go to good homes!

German Shorthaired Pointers:

Carlee, above, takes a leap for a stick while Jager awaits his turn. German Shorthaired Pointers need a lot of exercise and can do it all: Run, swim, hunt and pull!

rundogs

German Shorthaired Pointers (GSPs) are in their element in the field. Their boundless energy makes them ideal bird dogs, capeable of covering a great deal of ground in very little time.

According to Wikipedia, "the docked tail should not be too long or too short but should balance the appearance of the head and body. The GSP tail is carried at a jaunty angle, not curled under." (photo Robert Wright)

German Shorthaired Pointers, like all Pointers, have webbed toes. They are strong swimmers, as Carlee demonstrates here. Uncertain around the water at first, Carlee quickly became a confident and fleet swimmer.

Ruthie, above, blasts through the brush. According to the AKC, Today's German Shorthaired Pointers are the descendants of German scent hounds and track/trail dogs (Schweisshunde) mixed with the old Spanish Pointer. Finally, Foxhounds were bred into the line. A breed with keen scenting power and intelligence, GSPs are an ideal all-purpose dog.

The dogs:

Carlee (AKC name: Carlee Autumn Rose)

See Carlee's 2009 litter

carlygrn1

Carlee is my top bitch and pride of the pack. To see her 2009 litter, visit our Puppy Page. Carlee is the sister of Jager and the mother of Cinnamon, Stella and Ruthie.. For more about Carlee, click here.

Stella (Wilson's Stella Magnolia)

stella

Stella is the newest addition to my pack. She is a black and roan bitch who will make beautiful pups someday.

Cinnamon (Cinnamon Spice Girl)

cinny1

Cinnamon is Carlee's daughter from her first litter. She is as tall as Carlee and is just as fast and proficient in the field. She is bright, perceptive and energetic. For more about Cinnamon, click here.

Jager (Jager Meister Wilson)

yeaggrn

Jager is my first German Shorthaired Pointer. He is big, muscular and a superb hunter. His field training is complete, and there are few GSPs who can outperform Jager on the hunt. For more about Jager, click here.

Goose (Bull Goose Looney)

Goose is my youngest male, a rare all-black GSP. Goose is active, strong and very fast. His is a great representation of the breed standard. For more about Goose, click here.

Ace (Ace in the Hole)

Ace in the Hole is a fine stud who recently serviced Stella. If all goes well, she will have her first litter soon. Visit his page to see more of Ace.

Ruthie (Ruthie Anne Dovetail)

ruth1

Ruthie is also Carlee's daughter, a specimen dog I favored and kept as a pet and hunting companion. She won't be bred. Smaller than her sister Cinnamon, Ruthie is very affectionate and an excellent hunter. She has a lot of personality.
